The Sudanese American Research & Development Center (SARC) is proud to unveil a strategic initiative aimed at transforming healthcare education in Sudan. In response to the significant challenges posed by the conflict that began in April 2023, SARC is leading efforts to establish the Digital Health and Medical Training Hub (DHMT).
This innovative hub will serve as a cornerstone for rebuilding Sudan’s healthcare capacity by offering accessible, high-quality training and resources for healthcare professionals, including doctors, nurses, paramedics, and midwives. DHMT will leverage advanced online platforms and training tools to ensure nationwide accessibility.
Key features of the DHMT initiative include:
• Comprehensive Online Courses on critical medical topics.
• Interactive Webinars led by healthcare experts.
• Extensive Resource Library of protocols and guidelines.
• Assessment Tools for certifications and skill validation.
Through collaboration with national and international stakeholders, including the National University-Sudan, the Federal Ministry of Health, and global organizations like WHO and UMR, DHMT will play a pivotal role in reshaping Sudan’s healthcare landscape.
The project is set to launch officially in April 2025, with a total estimated budget of $150,000. This includes platform customization, content development, and a dedicated training-of-trainers program.
Key Stakeholders:
• World Health Organization (WHO): Ensuring DHMT’s resources meet global health standards, WHO will bring credibility, expertise, and guidelines for building a resilient healthcare system.
• Lecturio: Providing the digital backbone for DHMT, Lecturio will adapt its proven platform to include Sudan-specific content and tools for certification.
• United Mission for Relief and Development (UMR): UMR will provide resources, foster partnerships, and advocate for funding to expand DHMT’s reach.
• MedGlobal: Delivering expert-led webinars and practical crisis-responsive approaches, MedGlobal will bring its extensive experience in healthcare training in low-resource settings.
• National University-Sudan (NUSU) and Sudan International University (SIU): Serving as local hosts, these universities will integrate DHMT into Sudan’s higher education framework, ensuring alignment with local healthcare needs and recruiting healthcare professionals for training.
• Sudanese American Research and Development Center (SARC): Leading the initiative, SARC will coordinate efforts, manage local implementation, and adapt resources to Sudan’s context.
Implementation Timeline and Impact:
With a launch date set for April 2025, DHMT will serve as a cornerstone for rebuilding Sudan’s healthcare sector by offering accessible, localized training in both English and Arabic. The initiative is designed to foster sustainable, community-driven healthcare improvements while preparing Sudan’s healthcare workforce for future challenges.
This transformative project marks a significant step toward improving healthcare quality, supporting capacity building, and ensuring a healthier future for Sudan. We invite donors, stakeholders, and healthcare professionals to join us in making DHMT a success.
